What Knee Revision Surgery Involves

Your knee revision surgery will depend on the extent of the damage to your knee implant and the surrounding tissues. For this procedure, we will make an incision through same scar. Your implant will be evaluated carefully and repaired or replaced depending on what is found at that time. The entire surgery typically takes between 2-3 hours and is performed under general anesthesia.

What to Expect After Knee Revision Surgery

After your knee surgery, you may or may not need to stay in the hospital. Usually you go home the same day or next morning. You should be able to walk and put weight on your knee the same day. Your doctor will also want to follow up with you frequently to ensure it is healing correctly, and you may need physical therapy. Your recovery time will depend on how well you heal, but you can expect to recover in 6 to 12 weeks.
